Evil Wizard Comics

Recently my partner and I were out on a walk and he told me about a character concept that had been floating in his head. It involved comparing the classic D&D concept of a phylactery (a receptacle a lich would use to store a piece of their life force to effectively become immortal) to an external hard drive backup that people use in real life. Sometimes hard drives become corrupted, or neglected. So my partner’s thought was: what if you had an evil wizard who, due to an out of sync backup, reemerged as a level-I wizard who then has to go on a journey of redemption for all his evil deeds? He also had a name for this character, Eigenvictor. This name is similar to the linear algebra concept of eigenvectors, which are important in computer science, but it also sounds like a guy’s name so it’s pretty silly and thematic.

I used my privileges as a girlfriend to steal the concept and now Eigenvector is my OC and I made this comic about him.

This comic ended up doing pretty well on TikTok (at least for me, I’ve got 4.8k likes on it right now) so I made a quick follow up.

I’ll probably make more Eigenvictor comics sometime soon, but I want to think a bit about the direction I want to go with his story if I’m going to be doing an ongoing narrative. I want to delve a bit into the background of how the original Eigenvictor became evil. Right now I’m thinking he’s probably something like a magical tech-bro. He’s got a lot of talent, but he’s bad at understanding the needs of others and bad at taking criticism, so after trying some bad ideas he doubled down and found himself with no friends and an undead army. I also need to think about what I can portray with my skills in the time I would be willing to commit to a narrative comic project.

I’d also like to think a bit about the adventures responsible for defeating the original Eigenvictor. Would they be willing to risk reset-Eigenvictor doing evil again by letting him live? Would they try to influence reset-Eigenvictor to keep him on a better path?
